Atomic Wallet Users Hacked for $35M Worth of Bitcoin, Ether, Tether, and Other Tokens

Over the weekend, Atomic Wallet, a centralized storage and wallet service, experienced a significant breach resulting in the theft of nearly $35 million worth of various tokens.

The stolen tokens included bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), tether (USDT), dogecoin (DOGE), litecoin (LTC), bnb coin (BNB), and polygon (MATIC).

On-chain analytics, as reported by blockchain investigator @ZachXBT, indicated that Tron-based USDT was the largest stash stolen.

Atomic Wallet confirmed that the affected users constituted “less than 1% of our monthly active users,” and the most recent drained transaction occurred on Saturday.

Atomic Wallet is currently investigating and analyzing the attack, but as of Monday morning, it has not released specific details regarding the breach.

To aid in their investigations, the company has asked victims to provide information through a Google Docs form. Some users have reported that their cryptocurrency was stolen following a recent software update, while others claim to have been impacted despite not having updated to the latest version.
