Crypto executives have donated over $1 million to fund the legal defense of ZachXBT, a blockchain investigator facing a defamation lawsuit brought against him by Jeffrey Huang, also known as MachiBigBrother on Twitter.
Huang accused ZachXBT of damaging his reputation through false allegations made in an article titled ‘22,000 ETH Embezzled and Over Ten Projects Failed: The Story of Machi Big Brother (Jeff Huang)’
In response, ZachXBT called the lawsuit ‘baseless’ and set up a donation wallet address for assistance with legal fees that he estimated could exceed $1 million.
Crypto executives including CZ of Binance, Jesse Powell of Kraken, and Sandeep Nailwal of Polygon have donated to the cause, praising ZachXBT’s work in the industry.
ZachXBT’s research has previously been used by French authorities to charge five people on suspicion of stealing $2.5 million worth of non-fungible tokens via phishing scams.
