Gemini, the US-based cryptocurrency exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has announced plans to expand into the Asia-Pacific region. The firm will increase staff numbers at its Singapore office and establish an engineering division in India, with further expansion plans for the region over the next year. Gemini’s move comes as it faces a lawsuit from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over its “Gemini Earn” product, which allows users to lend crypto assets to Genesis. The exchange has also announced plans to expand into Canada and Europe. Gemini believes that the Asia-Pacific region will drive the next wave of growth for crypto and the exchange.
