Mexican corporate conglomerate Grupo Salinas has partnered with Ibex Mercado to enable millions of Mexicans to pay their internet bills using the Bitcoin Lightning Network. The partnership will allow Bitcoin adoption across multiple businesses owned by Grupo Salinas, including Total Play, a popular telecoms company.
Ibex Mercado CEO Jose Lemus stated that this integration is just the beginning of Lightning functionality across Grupo Salinas and that more Bitcoin and Lightning integrations are being planned in Mexico. The partnership aims to improve financial inclusion for unbanked and underserved populations and promote broader market access for companies.
Lemus also highlighted the potential of Mexico as a Bitcoin destination, stating that it could be the place where Bitcoin adoption takes off.
