Sui 8192 Tile Game Sparks Surge in Daily Transactions on Sui Network

A tile-sliding puzzle game called Sui 8192 has caused a significant increase in daily transactions on the Sui Network, leading to comparisons with Solana’s network activity. Similar to the popular game 2048, Sui 8192 allows players to shift and combine tiles until they reach a tile worth 8192. Launched in October 2022, this fully on-chain game records each move as a transaction on the Sui Network.

Developed by Ethos Wallet, a Sui wallet provider, Sui 8192 serves as an open-source example of how applications can evolve on the Sui blockchain. The game’s instances generate new objects similar to minting NFTs, making every move a recorded transaction that requires a gas fee payment.

According to Artemis, an on-chain analytics provider, the Sui Network’s transaction count recently surpassed 20 million, even surpassing Solana’s 16 million daily transactions. However, it should be noted that Artemis calculates Sui Network’s transactions differently by counting transaction blocks rather than individual transactions when comparing with Ethereum and other chains.

In addition to Sui 8192, another driving force behind the momentum on the Sui Network is an initiative called Bullshark Quests by Mysten Labs. This initiative allows Bullshark holders to engage with various Sui games, including Sui 8192, to compete for rewards in SUI tokens. The Sui Foundation has put up 5 million tokens as rewards for completing tasks and activities.

Sui itself is a layer-1 blockchain launched in May 2023, positioned as a competitor to Solana. While SUI prices experienced a slight decline at $0.678, the surge in daily transactions on the Sui Network has sparked interest in this blockchain gaming ecosystem.

Further insights from Solana regarding the daily transaction data comparison were not immediately available at the time of writing.
