Faroe Islands Postal Service Issues NFT-Embedded Stamps

The Faroe Islands’ postal service has issued a new series of digital stamps called “crypto stamps,” with a non-fungible token (NFT) version stored on the blockchain while still functioning as actual postage. The physical stamps have a corresponding digital version that is stored on the blockchain and allows users to participate in their creation, increasing rarity. The stamps are linked to real-time weather data from a local weather station, which affects how the digital versions appear.

This is not the first postal service to use blockchain technology for NFT crypto stamps; the Netherlands’ PostNL and Austria’s PostAG have also issued them.
