US Secret Service explains its nonfungible token (NFT) collection

The US Secret Service’s San Francisco Field Office has shed light on its NFT collection, which was first revealed during a Reddit AMA earlier this year.

The Digital Asset Technology Alliance Squad created the collection to better understand the mechanics of NFTs and to demonstrate the agency’s interest in the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Each field agent received a uniquely personalized NFT, with some even receiving multiple offers to purchase them. However, the agents emphasized that the NFTs were never intended for sale and serve as a symbol of their dedication to the crypto space.

The team hopes that their NFT collection will help improve public education around crypto and make law enforcement more approachable by the public, particularly by crypto enthusiasts. By interacting with members of the crypto community on social media platforms, the Secret Service believes it can solve crimes and return funds to victims.
